Week Notes [2026 #35]
Monday [Aug. 31]

Doing some more setup of Emacs with a vanilla config. It's dope.
Main thing set up is hotkey navigation between tabs.
-
Updated my moonlander keyboard config so control keys are easier to hit. I'd been shifting to a layer that did like
Option+Shift+LETTERfor Neovim since it was hard to figure out what was mapped to what and that seemed the least likely to conflict. In emacs, I can just do
M-xdescribe-keyto see exactcly what key is mapped to what. So, I can confirm I'm note messing things up when I make changes.
Saturday [Sept. 5]

Watched the Bama game vs East Carolina. Well. Kinda watched it. Had it going on the side.
As always, the amount of commercials is staggering. It feels like they've shifted heavily to 15 second spots which makes the noise even greater. I bascailly keep the volume off the entire time. That'll change a bit for bigger games.
Actually, it'll be intersting to see how things go this year. I have a much better since of time than ever before. I wonder what effect that'll have on my watching.
Sunday [Sept. 6]

Spent a bunch of time working on my emacs config. The biggest thing I was working on was getting project/file navigation set up. Took a bit to figure out, but I've got a good first run in place.
I'm really digging the experience. There's still a few things I want to tweak before I figure v1 is done, but it's gettint pretty close.
-
I've been down that past few days.
Not bad, but I just didn't do anything other than watch a ton or react videos. The good news is that I didn't just sleep the entire time.
I think I'm through that for the most part. Getting back to working on the emacs config which will get me set up to work on stuff again.
(A part of the reason I wasn't working is because my dev enviornment in emacs wasn't set up. I just didn't want ot deal with the friction of having to try to work without a good set up and didn't have the spoons to do the type of digging into stuff that it takes to actually get things set up)
Outro
Overall, a down week. I wasn't really recharging. Just no energy/motiviation to work on stuff. Every time that happens I get a little worried that I won't pull out of it.
I've gone through it enouhg times now that I know that's not the case. Just have to sit with it while things are offline in the brain.

Oh yeah. I watched Thunderbolts too. Was pretty good. A bunch of the reactors I saw really liked it since it deals with depression and is a very different tone than the other marvel stuff. I liked it, but they didn't capture the feeling of depression that resonated with me as much as it did with other folks. Of course, my baseline is pretty fucking far out there since I've had to go to the psych ward becuase I was a danger to myself.

Oh yeah 2. I also watched Project Hail Mary. (I think that was this week and not last, but my sense of time is a little jacked). It was really good. Went into it without knowing anything about it and that was a great way to do it.
Has me thinking again about trying to avoid spoilers. Which, actually isn't that much of an issue these days since I don't really see commericals outside of football games.
